The Big Influence of Small Ejector Pins in Injection Molding
In injection molding, ejector pins are small but play a huge role. Their materials and surface treatments are the key.
Materials: Fundamental Performance
Materials determine ejector pins’ basic properties. Commonly used SKD61 die steel has high strength and wear resistance. It can bear high pressure and friction during injection, staying stable after long – term use, ensuring smooth production. Using poor – quality materials, pins break easily, causing production stops, product waste, and higher costs. For corrosive plastics, SUS420 stainless – steel pins resist corrosion, keeping the surface smooth for good ejection. Beryllium – copper pins with good heat conductivity speed up cooling, shorten the cycle, and boost efficiency.
Surface Treatments: Added Advantages
Surface treatments bring extra benefits. Hard chromium plating and nitriding lower friction, making demolding smoother and reducing scratches. Treatments like carburizing and quenching increase hardness and wear resistance, extending lifespan. Electroless nickel plating forms a protective film, improving corrosion resistance for stable work in tough conditions.
